In this delicious recipe, raisins along with cinnamon are the star ingredients. The raisins bring bursts of flavor while also offering healing properties. We tend to overlook raisins as a healing food. But don’t let their humble status fool you. Raisins are more powerful for your health than goji berries! Cinnamon is another healing food that will also fill your home with its wonderful fragrance as the Cinnamon Raisin bread bakes. Enjoy this bread alone or try spreading a little raw honey on top for an extra sweet treat.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Ingredients:
3 tbsp ground flaxseeds + 1/2 cup water
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 3/4 cups water
3 cups gluten-free oat flour
3/4 cup millet flour
1 1/2 cups tapioca starch
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

Mix together the ground flaxseeds and water. Set aside for 5 minutes, until thickened.

Add the flaxseeds to a medium-sized mixing bowl together with the applesauce, maple syrup, and water. Whisk until uniform.

Add the oat flour, millet flour, tapioca starch, baking powder, and cinnamon to the wet ingredients and stir until evenly mixed. Stir in the raisins until evenly dispersed in the batter, then set the batter aside for 15 minutes.

Pour the batter into a loaf pan, being careful not to lose any of the air bubbles that have formed in the batter. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Remove from oven and carefully tip out of the loaf pan right away. Remove the parchment paper and place on a wire rack until it has completely cooled. Slice and serve.

Mold often gets the blame for many different illnesses, but mold itself is not the cause of chronic symptoms and conditions. Mold is a trigger; it lowers the immune system so that underlying low-grade viral and bacterial infections such as Epstein-Barr virus, shingles, and streptococcus can prosper and proliferate, causing anything from vertigo to chronic sinusitis. Viruses and bacteria are the real cause of countless symptoms and conditions, along with toxic heavy metals, and other toxins.

One person can be exposed to mold by inhaling it or eating it and exhibit no symptoms. When this happens, it’s because they didn’t have much of a viral load that could take advantage of the drop in the immune system that happened when they were exposed. For someone else who has multiple viruses and/or bacteria and more aggressive strains, mold exposure can be a potent trigger that sets off the underlying viruses and bacteria, resulting in the onset of new symptoms or conditions or the worsening of current ones. Again, the difference is whether or not someone has an underlying viral or bacterial issue poised to wreak havoc. This is why someone can experience symptoms months or years after mold exposure–long after the mold is no longer in their life in any way. It’s really another underlying issue that’s behind their symptoms.

Another element is what kind of mold someone is exposed to and for how long. There are different varieties of mold toxins, some more aggressive than others. Some don’t affect the immune system much at all while others are very toxic.

Find out more about how mold triggers the underlying causes of illness and how to protect yourself against mold in the Medical Medium podcast titled “Mold: The Crazy Maker” on Apple Podcasts.

Lemon Snaps

Mouth-meltingly delicious and sweet, with the perfect tangy lemon edge, these crunchy lemon snap cookies could well become a favorite in your home!

Lemons contain micro mineral salts that break down pathogens such as unproductive bacteria, mold, yeast, and fungus to help protect your liver’s immune system. The rich calcium levels in lemons binds to the vitamin C within them, and both of these enter into the liver, where they waken a stagnant, sluggish, fatty liver, helping loosen and disperse fat cells.

Lemon Snaps

Ingredients:
1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
2 1/2 tbsp water
1/4 cup softened coconut oil
2 tbsp maple sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp lemon zest
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup gluten-free oat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp aluminum-free baking powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground flaxseeds and water. Set aside for 5 minutes so the flaxseeds can expand. Stir in the coconut oil, maple sugar, maple syrup, lemon juice, and lemon zest until you get a uniform mixture.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour, oat flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Add the dry mixture to the wet in 2 parts, stirring to form a loose dough. Chill dough in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Using a 1 1/2 inch cookie scoop, scoop the dough and roll into balls. The dough should be quite soft. Place on a prepared baking tray and press down lightly with your palm.

Bake for 16-18 minutes, until golden brown. The cookies should be quite soft at this point; they will harden as they cool. Let sit for 5 minutes before placing cookies on a wire rack to cool completely.

Best kept at room temperature in an airtight container.

Makes 14-16 cookies

Going down the mold path is not easy for anyone. It requires a certain mindset to be able to live your life and at the same time, live with the mold around you. How do you battle an invisible invader that instills so much fear in people, and can worsen health symptoms and conditions? The mold today is not the same mold of yesterday, the mold today is much stronger than mold ever was in our history. This mold runs on a frequency, EMF, radio signals, and energy emitting from power plants; it thrives on technology and has adapted and lives by this power. Mold can trigger someone who is seemingly healthy and has had no health problems before but can especially trigger someone who is already struggling with an existing health symptom or condition.

Mold Exposure

When you experience your first symptoms, such as fatigue, dizziness, focus and concentration issues, nausea, headaches or migraines, or tingles and numbness, and you’re searching for answers, someone may mention mold, and send you on the hunt for mold in your home or workplace. Chances are, once you go looking for mold, you will find some, whether it’s just little bits of black mold on the grout in the shower, or a serious mold problem elsewhere in the home or workplace.

This mold, found in the home or workplace, is not the cause of why someone is sick, but can certainly be the trigger. This can explain why several family members or co-workers may not fall ill from mold exposure, while another can be left bedridden with severe fatigue, body aches and pains, bloating, vertigo, tinnitus, burning skin, tightness of the chest, anxiety or depression. These symptoms, and the conditions that can be diagnosed alongside them, are caused by viruses and toxic heavy metals, more about this here in this podcast episode. For many, mold exposure is the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Mold can lower the immune system and make someone susceptible to something else that resides inside of them.

Immune System

When we get exposure to mold, our immune systems become overloaded and our body has to use its deep reserves to help battle the mold invader. When our immune cells see mold spores enter our bloodstream, they quickly try to gobble up as many mold spores as possible to protect us from the neurotoxin that mold is made up of – so they don’t enter the brain. Mold rarely enters the brain because our body’s immune system uses every last immune cell to stop it from happening. Learn more about how the immune system battles mold exposure in this podcast episode

Healing Foods

Certain fruits, leafy greens, herbs, wild foods, and vegetables are critical in helping us defend ourselves from mold sickness and exposure, including celery, spinach, arugula, cilantro, winter squash, potatoes, apples, oranges and more. These foods are filled with glucose, trace minerals, and phytochemical healing compounds that include anti-fungal, anti-viral, and antibacterial compounds that are necessary to keep us strong. The pectin in apples enters the intestinal tract and binds onto any mold spores that may be on the inside lining, grabbing onto them and pulling them out of the body.

Consuming sixteen to thirty-two ounces of celery juice daily is another critical healing tool for mold exposure and sickness. For more healing tools to defend against mold listen to this podcast episode.

  • Understand the difference between mold that is on food versus toxic mold that can be in attics, basements, and underneath kitchen or bathroom sinks
  • What healing tools to incorporate to help rebuild the immune system and defend yourself from mold sickness

Moving Forward

We don’t always have full control over our environment or surroundings, but there are ways to fight against mold exposure while living with the mold itself. With the right tools and information, you can take control of your health, support your immune system as it battles the true cause of why you are sick, and no longer allow mold to run your life.

As we run from mold, let’s remember not to let it run us off the cliff, we’re better where we are, try to keep your feet on the ground, you can beat mold in many ways and still be safe and sound.

In most cases, neurological symptoms are a mystery to medical research and science. If physical injury has not occurred, then neurological symptoms are typically caused by one or more of the over 60 varieties of Epstein-Barr virus, one or more of the over 30 varieties of shingles virus, or any of the multiple strains of herpes simplex 1 or herpes simplex 2.

These viruses feed on mercury and other toxins that reside inside the body, and they release neurotoxins to which the nervous system is very sensitive, leading to inflammation of the brain that appears mysterious to medical research and science.

These neurotoxins that viruses (such as EBV) expel after feeding on toxic heavy metals create so many of the symptoms that sufferers of autoimmune disease experience. The neurological symptoms of fibromyalgia, MS, Lyme disease, RA, Hashimoto’s, and ME/CFS, as well as stand-alone symptoms such as fatigue, aches, pains, tingles, numbness, vertigo, dizziness, tinnitus, eye floaters, nerve pain, neuropathy, heart palpitations, burning skin, and migraines, spasms, restlessness, restless legs, muscle weakness, tightness in the chest—to name just a few—are a result of these neurotoxins.

Oftentimes, the viruses take advantage of previous injuries, where the nerves were weakened, allowing the viruses and the neurotoxins they produce to create bodily inflammation and discomfort.

Troublemaker foods such as eggs, milk, cheese, butter, and gluten worsen these symptoms, as do colognes, perfumes, air fresheners, and scented candles, all of which can feed the viruses accelerating neurological issues. A high-fat/high-protein diet interferes with glucose that nerve cells need critically for rejuvenation.

Crispy baked potatoes carry the flavors of an Everything Bagel in this easy and fun recipe. This is a great alternative for anyone avoiding grains in order to heal in general.

The entire potato, inside and out, is valuable and beneficial for your health: potato plants draw some of the highest concentration of macro and trace minerals from the earth. Potatoes are also high in potassium and rich in vitamin B6, as well as a fantastic source of amino acids, especially lysine in its bioactive form. Lysine is a powerful weapon against cancers, liver disease, inflammation, and the viruses such as Epstein-Barr and shingles that are behind rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain, autoimmune disease, and more.

Everything Potatoes

Ingredients:
2 tbsp onion granules or flakes
2 tbsp garlic granules or flakes
2 tbsp black sesame seeds
2 1/2 tbsp white sesame seeds
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tsp flaked or regular sea salt (optional)
1 lb small to medium-sized potatoes

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400F/200C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If using an air fryer then you can skip this step.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the onion granules, garlic granules, black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and sea salt (if using). Mix well.

Halve the potatoes, then press cut side down into the seasoning until evenly coated. Repeat with the rest of the potatoes. Arrange potatoes on the baking sheet or in your air fryer basket. Bake for 30-40 minutes in the oven or air fry for 25-30 minutes. Serve immediately.

Makes 1 to 2 servings

Why B12?

In our day and age, B12 is dearly needed. B12 reserves are diminishing with each generation that goes by and deficiencies are growing at an alarming rate. In truth, almost everyone is deficient in B12 today.

Even if you get a blood test that shows you are high in B12, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the kind of B12 your body can use. Listen to the Medical Medium podcast on Apple podcasts titled “B12 Trick-or-Treat: You Don’t Get It From Meat” to understand how this works.

The body relies on B12 for thousands of daily functions.

B12:

• Is critical for the nervous system
• Supports and repairs the endocrine system
• Boosts mental and emotional health
• Builds the immune system
• Protects against neurotoxins from viruses such as EBV
• Strengthens neurotransmitter chemicals
• Keeps homocysteine levels down, which helps reduce inflammation
• Is critical for methylation
• Helps with liver cell communication
• Helps keep the liver out of stagnation
• Strengthens hepatocytes and all other liver cells, as well as liver lobules
• Helps prevent the liver’s blood vessels from atrophying
• Helpful for every symptom and condition

In my B12 podcast, I share that the best kind of supplement to take is B12 with methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Together, they make the perfect combination to support your B12 needs. For starters, methylcobalamin is good for your eyes, hearing, heart, nervous system, and adrenals. And adenosylcobalamin is good for your central nervous system, spleen, pancreas, liver, and endocrine system. It’s critical to have both of these types of B12. They work as a team to help with the triggers we are up against on this planet, the emotional hardships, and the physical struggles we can go through. They work in combination to battle obstacles together. It’s a combined coenzyme power. Find the B12 I recommend on my supplement directory

To find out the best dosages of B12 for almost 200 different symptoms and conditions, you can refer to the chapter titled “The True Cause of Your Symptoms and Conditions with Dosages to Heal” in the New York Times best-selling book, Medical Medium Cleanse to Heal: Healing Plans for Sufferers of Anxiety, Depression, Acne, Eczema, Lyme, Gut Problems, Brain Fog, Weight Issues, Migraines, Bloating, Vertigo, Psoriasis, Cysts, Fatigue, PCOS, Fibroids, UTI, Endometriosis & Autoimmune.

B12 deficiency is the last thing you want when living with symptoms and conditions, such as anxiety, depression, body aches and pains, tingles or numbness, fatigue, eye floaters, migraines, restless legs syndrome, tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo, jaw pain, neck pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, lupus, eczema and psoriasis, and so much more. Even if you’re someone not living with a symptom, you should still try to keep an eye out on protecting yourself with what the body needs in this day and age with so many obstacles and stress we’re up against. Being proactive in your B12 needs is a great investment towards good and stable health. With that said, there are lots of important key factors to avoid and look out for to determine if you’re really getting your B12 or not, and what it really means if your B12 levels are high or low.

Are you getting enough B12 from your food? And if you are getting B12 from your food, it may not be active, usable B12. Your body may not be able to put the B12 to good use and it then gets discarded and urinated out of the body. We’re often told we get our B12 from meat, chicken, lamb, turkey, milk, eggs, cheese, pork, butter, salmon, crab, shrimp, clams and oysters. Yes, we do receive B12 from these food sources, but the truth is, we can’t utilize this B12 for several reasons, more about this here in this podcast episode. The first is, we create our own B12, and that very B12 our bodies create, is the B12 that keeps us going and staying strong. Our bodies do this by means of special microorganisms I call elevated biotics. These elevated biotics reside deep within our intestinal track, and are responsible for creating the building blocks for our B12. But having these elevated microorganisms is another story, most everybody is lacking these, and are not producing their own B12, and instead relying on sources like animal products. All animals create their own B12, every species on the planet creates their own specific form of B12 for their needs, but our bodies don’t utilize animal sources of B12. There isn’t B12 in plant foods either, so both plant-based vegans and animal protein eaters miss out on receiving B12 from their food choices.

B12 Deficiency

Elevated biotics, or elevated microorganisms, are critical for B12 production in the body. Unlike factory-produced products like probiotics, kefir, kombucha tea, sauerkraut, and soil borne microorganisms, elevated biotics are able to survive the digestive process and make it to the ileum, where they excrete the co-enzyme B12, in its purest form, and send it through the hepatic portal highway into the liver. Learn more about these critical microorganisms in this podcast episode. One main reason someone may have a B12 deficiency is the lack of elevated biotics in their diet.

Another reason someone may become deficient in B12 is due to a stagnant, sluggish, and overburdened liver. Many people are born with weak livers, while others develop dysfunctional livers over time. Either way, if you are suffering with a health symptom of any kind, it would be beneficial to evaluate the health of your liver and how it may be affecting your well-being. Nobody has a perfect liver, and this is one of the reasons B12 deficiency is rampant.

B12 Testing

You may be thinking you are not at risk of B12 deficiency because tests have shown normal, or even high vitamin B12 levels in your blood. These results do not necessarily mean that the B12 in your body is usable and being absorbed where it needs to in the body. The central nervous system, liver, and other organs may still be severely deficient, more about B12 testing in this podcast episode

Protecting Your Body

In this day and age, we need support with all we are up against. B12 is vital for support with emotional hardships like betrayal, broken trust, emotional stress, and mental abuse; environmental exposures such as pesticides, herbicides, air fresheners, and scented candles; and health symptoms and conditions caused by toxic heavy metals and pathogens. All of these factors can result in an overburdened liver, stressed out nervous system, weakened neurotransmitters, burnt out adrenals, and can weaken and diminish B12 reserves.

The best way to support and protect your body against these hardships is to provide your body with critically needed B12. Consuming more elevated biotics in living foods is a great way to support your body. These foods include leafy greens, sprouts, herbs, fruits, wild foods, and vegetables in their growing state.

Providing your body with the right kind of B12 supplementation is also critical. B12 with methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin is the perfect combination to supplement B12 deficiency and support your body’s B12 needs. Methylcobalamin is good for the eyes, ears and hearing, heart, nervous system, and adrenals. Adenosylcobalamin is good for the central nervous system, spleen, pancreas, liver, and endocrine system. You can find the highest quality supplements in the supplement directory on my website at medicalmedium.com.

Moving Forward

Whether you have anxiety, depression, body aches and pains, tingles or numbness, fatigue, eye floaters, migraines, restless legs syndrome, tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo, jaw pain, neck pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, lupus, eczema and psoriasis, or any other health symptom or condition, making sure your body is receiving the best form of usable B12 is crucial for your health and well-being.

B12 deficiency is an epidemic and growing at an alarming speed, without us realizing it. In our day and age, B12 is dearly needed.

Consuming apple cider vinegar has become a popular trend in the health world. Many people are incorporating it into their daily routine, and drinking it by the tablespoon. Unfortunately, no one is warning the people who have health symptoms and conditions of the many pitfalls of apple cider vinegar.

Acetic Acid and Gut Bacteria

Apple cider vinegar, which is acetic acid, adds to the acid already in the body from unproductive bacteria in the gut, and can worsen existing symptoms and conditions. One example is Streptococcus bacteria, which can cause urinary tract infections (UTIs), sinus infections, gum infections, ear infections, bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast infections, bladder infections, sore throats, prostate infections, strep throat, gallbladder infections, appendicitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bloating, styes, acnes, skin cysts and boils, conjunctivitis, and pink eye. Strep bacteria thrives in an acidic environment in the body, and adding more acid, like acetic acid from apple cider vinegar, magnifies this environment and can allow strep bacteria to stay strong in the body.

When acetic acid encounters salt in the body, a chemical reaction occurs and this can result in chronic dehydration. When someone consumes apple cider vinegar, the vinegar begins to draw living water from cells and organs, and places the water in the wrong places in the body. This can give someone the illusion that they have lost weight from apple cider vinegar, but in truth, their body is just dehydrated from the vinegar. Not only can vinegar deeply dehydrate the body, but it can pickle organs as it reacts to salt and then draws water from cells and organs, allowing toxins to penetrate deeper into organ tissue.

Appetite, Digestion and Bloating

You may have heard that apple cider vinegar helps to suppress the appetite. Apple cider vinegar does help to suppress the appetite, but only for a moment, and can leave someone hungry at the wrong time later. When apple cider vinegar enters the body, it suppresses the appetite by sucking the water out of the cells of the stomach lining. The apple cider vinegar, or acetic acid, is seen as something toxic as it is consumed and can shock the stomach. As a defense mechanism, the stomach instantly produces a layer of mucus to try and stop the vinegar from entering its cells; this layer of mucus can replace food for a short while and give the sensation of feeling full.

As vinegar enters the stomach, the stomach glands start to release large storage bins of hydrochloric acid (HCL) to try and neutralize the acetic acid and break down the mucus the stomach lining is producing. This process can allow someone to feel like they are digesting better and can even relieve bloating for some people, but this is a temporary reaction. Once the stomach glands wear out as the months or years go by, depending on how much vinegar use occurs, or what condition the person’s stomach glands are in, the stomach glands can lose their ability to make more HCL, which can worsen digestion issues and cause bloating.

Acid Reflux

Unproductive bacteria in the gut, like strep, staph, and E. coli bacteria, produce acid that can creep up into the stomach and esophagus, and cause acid reflux. When someone is dumping apple cider vinegar into their body, the glands in the stomach begin to release large amounts of HCL, which then helps to neutralize bad acids, and can provide some relief for acid reflux. Unfortunately, this relief is only temporary as stomach glands wear out, acid reflux returns, and apple cider vinegar no longer alleviates acid reflux symptoms.

Teeth

Acetic acid depletes the body of the trace mineral calcium, which is used in the body to neutralize acidity. When someone is putting more acid into their body, by way of apple cider vinegar, or any vinegar, the more calcium the body needs to neutralize these acids, and the more calcium is taken from bones and teeth. This defense mechanism used by the body can potentially deplete calcium in teeth over time, and erode tooth enamel.

Topical Use

Apple cider vinegar is loaded with trace minerals, micronutrients, antioxidants, and enzymes, and has many great topical uses. Shampoos with apple cider vinegar can be great for the scalp. Similarly, an apple cider vinegar rinse, mixed with water, can be used on the scalp for dermatitis and dandruff. Pouring apple cider vinegar into a foot bath with water can be helpful for surface wounds, open sores, foot fungus, athlete’s foot, poison ivy, or poison oak; vinegar is a cleansing agent and can help clean wounds and draw out puss. Please note that apple cider vinegar will not kill bacteria and should not be used in place of peroxide on surface wounds. An acne compress – made with hot water and apple cider vinegar on a face towel – is another great way to use apple cider vinegar topically. Hold compress on acne for five to ten minutes at a time for painful acne relief.

When choosing which apple cider vinegar to use, it is best to choose the unfiltered with mother option.

Moving Forward

A common mistake in health and wellness is the belief that if a new health trend is bad for the body, the results will show right away, and if they don’t, then that trend is healthy. As with apple cider vinegar, we have learned that this isn’t always the case, and sometimes problems take time to show up in the body. Yes, apple cider vinegar is the best option when it comes to consuming vinegar. But even the best kind of vinegar can have a detrimental effect on the body and is best avoided, especially if you are dealing with eczema, psoriasis, acne, vitiligo, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, thyroid disorders, Lyme disease, or any other symptom or condition.

When someone is sick and doesn’t feel good, they don’t have the time, the energy, the resources to play the apple cider vinegar remedy game
